As part of the firm’s broader corporate department, Debevoise & Plimpton LLP‘s New York-based environmental practice continues to handle high-value environmental transactions, with a particular focus on the mining, energy and natural resources sectors. Here, the team advises on complex mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and financings, while also continuing to address environmental risks and liabilities both in the US and abroad. Stuart Hammer heads the practice and regularly advises private equity firms and corporations on ESG and environmental risk issues in a range of industries, such as energy and natural resources, paper and chemicals, while ESG senior advisor Ulysses Smith serves as a point of contact for major multinationals, NGOs and government institutions in a range of sustainability and governance issues. The team also includes Harry Zirlin, who focuses on the environmental aspects of bankruptcy matters.
